In 2013, I was in a car accident that left me in a coma with a traumatic brain injury and a broken jaw. I was airlifted to a trauma one hospital and remained in a coma for about two weeks. During that time, I had a tracheotomy and a feeding tube, and I was not expected to survive, let alone make a full recovery.
After months of inpatient rehab, where I relearned how to breathe, eat, walk, talk, and do everything again, I was released to start outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Throughout my recovery process, I began practicing yoga, massage, acupuncture, weightlifting, and various holistic health modalities. It was the holistic forms of medicine that significantly aided my recovery.
After completing outpatient therapy, I became a Registered Yoga Teacher, earned my Bachelor's in Health Science from Aurora University, and became a Licensed Massage Therapist. My goal is to share what I've learned through my recovery journey with holistic health and help others live happy and healthy lives.
